What is the function of a power battery

by admin

The direct function of a power battery is to provide a power source for electric vehicles.

Many electric vehicles use ternary lithium batteries, which use compounds such as lithium cobalt manganese oxide or lithium nickel oxide as the positive electrode, carbon materials that can embed lithium ions as the negative electrode, and organic electrolytes.

Power batteries are mainly different from starting batteries used for car engine starting.

Power batteries refer to batteries that provide power for electric vehicles, electric trains, electric bicycles, and golf carts.

The characteristic is that the temperature environment changes within the battery module that require long-term continuous high-power output have a significant impact on the reliability, lifespan, and performance of the battery cells. Therefore, it is particularly important to maintain the temperature within a certain temperature range within the battery module.

This is mainly achieved through cooling and heating.

There are three common cooling methods: air cooling, liquid cooling, and direct cooling.

Types of power batteries: 1. Three element power batteries; 2. Lithium iron phosphate battery; 3. Lithium titanate batteries; 4. Lead acid batteries.

Battery maintenance methods: 1. Do not overuse the battery; 2. Regularly clean the positive and negative terminals of the battery; 3. Regularly check the exhaust holes on the cover of non maintenance free batteries to avoid blockage; 4. Avoid low battery water level; 5. When parking for a long time, the vehicle should be started once a week to charge the battery.

The difference between power batteries and regular batteries is that battery cells are the basic unit devices that directly convert chemical energy into electrical energy, including electrodes, separators, electrolytes, casings, and terminals, and are designed to be rechargeable.

2. A battery module is a combination of more than one battery cell in series, parallel, or series parallel, with only one pair of positive and negative output terminals, and used as a power source. The battery unit consists of dozens of battery cells or battery modules connected in series to form a battery unit.

A power battery assembly is composed of several battery cells connected in series.

4. The CSC acquisition system has multiple CSC acquisition systems for each battery unit to monitor the voltage and temperature information of each battery cell or battery pack cell.

The CSC acquisition system reports relevant information to the battery control unit (BMU) and executes individual voltage balancing according to the instructions of the BMU.

5. The battery control unit is installed inside the power battery assembly and is the core component of the battery management system.

The battery control unit (BMU) reports information such as individual voltage, current, temperature, and vehicle high-voltage insulation to the vehicle controller (VCU) and completes control of the power battery according to the instructions of the VCU.
